Category Description
The Golden Gator will be awarded for the best black-and-white or color photograph or related series of photographs. All work must have appeared in print in a UF publication or periodical or have been used for some institutional purpose, such as for an exhibition, advertising, Web site or news purposes.
Entry Instructions
- One photograph or related series constitutes a single entry.
- Submit a completed entry form.
- Submit an abstract (no more than three pages)
- Photographs by a freelance photographer may be submitted, but the entries must be made by the UF unit or division for which the work was done.
- Each entry must include both the photograph(s) and the tear sheet from the publication(s) in which it was used. When photographs were used for an exhibition or space advertising, include a photograph of how it appeared as well as the actual photograph. For photographs used on a Web site, include a screen shot.
- Submit an abstract (no more than two pages).
- Do not mount photographs.
- Photographs should be no larger than 8 inches by 10 inches. Do not send photos on a disk.
- All photos must have been shot in the past two years and published or displayed between November 1, 2007 and November 30, 2008.
- Email your abstract, a 50-word summary of your entry and a JPG or TIF image that represents your entry as instructed on the entry form.
Judging Panel Guidelines
The judges will review all entries and score them based on the categories below. The total maximum points a judge can assign an entry in this category is 100 points.
- Provides detailed and thoughtful answers on the abstract (10)
- Shows creativity and visual impact and displays superior composition and technical skills (40)
- Supports objectives (15)
- Demonstrates an understanding of the target audience (15)
- Shows creative use of available resources (10)
- Elicits response and results (10)
