Category Description
The Golden Gator will be awarded to the most outstanding special event. This category will review outstanding events that have made a significant impact on advancing a college or unit at the University of Florida. These can include:
- Anniversaries
- Inaugurations
- Meetings and Conferences
- Educational Programs
- Alumni Events
- International Functions
- Convocations
- Special Commemorations
- Building Dedications
- Sports Activities
- Fund-raising Events
- Advertising/Marketing
Note: Submissions into this category cannot be broken up and entered into other categories. Please choose your entry category carefully.
Entry Instructions
- Submit a completed entry form.
- Submit an abstract (no more than three pages)
- Submit supporting materials that were crucial to your event (no larger than a 2" three-ring binder).
- A significant part of the event must have taken place between November 1, 2007 and November 30, 2008.
- Email your abstract, a 50-word summary of your entry and a JPG or TIF image that represents your entry as instructed on the entry form.
Judging Panel Guidelines
The judges will review all entries and score them based on the categories below. The total maximum points a judge can assign an entry in this category is 100 points. Judges will take into account the abstract submitted, including budget considerations.
- Provides detailed and thoughtful answers on the abstract (10)
- Meets event, project or program objectives (15)
- Demonstrates creative ideas and solutions (10)
- Shows effective planning and use of available resources (15)
- Demonstrates understanding of the target audience (10)
- Elicits results/response (10)
- Shows successful execution of the plan (includes review of submitted supporting materials, if appropriate) (30)
