Category Description
The Golden Gator will be awarded for overall excellence in visual design. All work must have been used for some institutional purpose, such as for an exhibition or advertising, or for a promotional purpose.
This category includes:
- Book Covers
- Posters
- Illustrations
- Banners
- Specialty pieces (e.g., videocassette/DVD covers, CD packages, T-shirts, caps, etc.)
Note: Submissions such as magazines, newsletters, brochures and periodicals will be judged as whole pieces in their respective categories, and therefore, should not be entered into this category.
Entry Instructions
- Submit a completed entry form.
- Submit an abstract (no more than three pages)
- Do not mount entries.
- All entries must have been published and/or displayed between November 1, 2007 and November 30, 2008.
- Email your abstract, a 50-word summary of your entry and a JPG or TIF image that represents your entry as instructed on the entry form.
Judging Panel Guidelines
The judges will review all entries and score them based on the categories below. The total maximum points a judge can assign an entry in this category is 100 points. Judges will take into account the abstract submitted, including budget considerations.
- Provides detailed and thoughtful answers on the abstract (10)
- Meets project’s objectives (15)
- Demonstrates superior use of typography/photography/layout in the design (30)
- Demonstrates an understanding of the target audience (15)
- Shows creative use of available resources (10)
- Makes careful use of budget (10)
- Elicits results/response (10)
