COMING SOON - 2008 Award Program Details
The 2008 program will be similar to the 2007 program, and have a deadline of Dec. 1, 2008. Entries must be for products and activities that were substantially completed anytime between Nov. 1, 2007 and Nov. 30, 2008. Further details will be available on this Web site by Nov. 1, 2008.
About the Awards
The Golden Gator awards recognize excellence in communications on behalf of the university, honoring those efforts that strengthen the university and help to meet its mission of teaching, research and service.
All University of Florida staff and faculty are eligible. Students qualify to be included as team members on the entry form. All entries must be written and submitted by UF staff or faculty. Entries submitted by consultants will be disqualified.
Judging
Entries within the 10 categories will be evaluated by a panel of three judges. Each panel will include at least one UF professional who is familiar with the university’s marketing communications standards. The other panel judges will be either university or off-campus professionals who possess an area of expertise related to the specific category to be judged. One UF professional from each judging panel will be assigned to assist in the panel’s organization and thus will be assigned as the panel’s chairperson. UF faculty and staff cannot judge a category in which they or their team has submitted an entry.
The panel members will first individually evaluate the entries, and then will collectively determine the recipient of the Golden Gator - the entry with the highest score – for each category. A narrative section will be included within the judging form, providing entrants with a highlight of what was viewed as the most positive attribute(s) of the entry, as well as improvement suggestions. The purpose of the narrative feedback is to assist in the advancement of future projects.
Entrants are encouraged to review the judging form/criteria prior to submission.
Awards
Each category will have one Golden Gator recipient, which is the highest scoring entry in that category. In addition, judges may award one or more Honorable Mentions to the second highest scoring entry(ies) in each category that meets the standard of excellence set by the panel. Judges may also award one Bang for Your Buck award to an entry for creative and thrifty use of budget.
