Fired Up

I don’t know about you, but I’m pretty fired up. After more than five years of layoffs and budget cuts – our lives as university communicators are about to change dramatically. Preeminence, Top 10, UF Online … the hits just keep coming, and the benefits that come with them will impact every college, unit, department  and employee. Increased state funding will allow the university to attract world-class faculty and launch UF Online, a unique new concept in distance learning. But that is only part of the picture. It will fall to us as communicators to let the world know that UF is on the move … that the University of Florida is a Top 10 university in every sense … and truly deserves that recognition.

Through our efforts, thousands of messages leave the university every day in printed materials, websites, news releases, social media and more. Together we form a powerful communications force, and I look forward to working closely with all of you in the coming months to tell our Top 10 story to the world.
